FLORIDA HOSPITAL Fish Memorial (FHFM) is proud to host its First Annual Physicians' Memorial Golf (PMG) Classic at the beautiful Heathrow Country Club on December 14, 2009. This charity fundraising event is sponsored by EMPros of Volusia County, with all proceeds going to benefit cancer patients of West Volusia, through FLORIDA HOSPITAL Cancer Institute Fish Memorial and FHFM Foundation. Each year the FHFM Foundation and the Physicians' Memorial Golf Classic, honors the memory of an outstanding Physician, who has made a significant contribution through his or her work and community service. This year's Tournament is dedicated to the memory of Jerry Robinson, M.D. It was in 1967 that the young Navy flight surgeon reluctantly moved to southwest Volusia and established the first medical practice in Deltona. For the next 40 years, Dr. Robinson would devote his life and work to the community he loved and what he referred to as the "art of medicine." To Jerry Robinson the "art of medicine" was simply the relationship a doctor has with his patient. In an age of computers and advances in medical technolog, Dr. Robinson still believed in making house calls and truly caring for his patients.... the old fashioned way.

The 2009 PMG Classic will be held at the beautiful Heathrow Country Club in Heathrow, FL. . This private 18-hole Championship Golf Course was designed by Ron Garl and presents a challenging but enjoyable Par 71. The 6,888-yard majestic layout winds through rolling terrain with stately oak trees, native pines and natural tree lines, as well as pristine lakes, streams and ponds. There are five picturesque par 3's highlighted by the course's signature 12th Hole. Located in the prestigious Heathrow community and home course to PGA Professional Chris DiMarco, this unique golf course was designed to challenge players of all skill levels. |
